Let's Go Fly a Kite

Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

KK-

April is turning out to be a crazy busy month.

We have been able to fit in kite flying.

Don't you just wish that you could soar up into the air like a kite?  Up where the air is clear?

There are some big stressful things happening in my life right now, and there are times when I wish I could escape them.  I want to feel the free air flowing through my hair and touch every cloud that passes by.  But then again, kites do have to come back down to earth.  There is a string that brings them back down where they belong.

While I can not escape to the atmosphere like a kite, I do get them same feeling when I look at my boys.  I love seeing their little faces light up with joy when they see me.  I love their sweet kisses and hugs.  I soak in these sweet short moments before I get pulled back to reality on the string of my kite.

As we finish out this month, I hope we can actually take the boys out for some more kite flying.

Alone on Easter.

Hi Miss T,

Someone brought in three lovely vases (huge ones) of spring tulips for the pulpit at church today. It was truly beautiful. Orange, Pink, and Yellow tulips. What a lovely way to share some Easter joy. However, as you know, I am missing Mr. P this Easter weekend. He is in Boise without me. This means that I am getting only a little taste of your life without a husband during the week.

I have no right to complain, so I won't. But today is Easter, and wouldn't you agree that no one wants to be alone on Easter?

As I thought a little more about being alone on Easter (initially because I was a little sad that I was alone and couldn't even get any neighbor to come over for dinner), I realized however that someone far greater was alone on Easter long before I ever was.

Easter is a joyous celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection; but before that triumphal rise, he had a very lonely night in the garden of Gethsemane. I am so grateful he was willing to be alone for those Easter moments, so now I can enjoy the beautiful spring Easter mornings and celebrate new birth and everlasting life.

Happy Easter!
Love KK

Run to Walk.

Dear Miss T,

What an interesting phrase "Run to Walk" don't you think? Don't you normally walk first, to be able to run? So wouldn't you think the phrase should be "Walk to Run"?

Well, as you well know, the phrase is beautifully put that way for the Now I Can Foundation Run to Walk 5k/1 mile Fun Run.

This is the event where you run so that others can walk. You get out your tennis shoes, wake up early on a beautiful spring Saturday morning, and do some of that dreaded thing we call running because you have legs that move at your command. You can balance wherever and whenever (well mostly). You can stand and sit whenever you want to. You can run. And on this Saturday morning, you are running because you want to help children with disabilities learn and progress to walk, so that now they can walk, balance, and stand when they want to.

So. To anyone who may be in Provo on May 19th, sign up to run in the Run to Walk 5k/1 mile Fun Run. We'd do it if we weren't going to be in Seattle, right Miss T? Right.

Aloha, Kk

Nose Noise

Dear Miss T,

I'm sitting here in the library. I'm being quiet, keeping to myself. Just working away at school things. Two chairs over is a man with serious nose noise issues.

I remember being a kid and instead of sniffing, I would sniff with a grunt that sort of included a throat clear at the same time. Do you remember the noise at all? Both you and Mom told me I should stop doing that. I couldn't understand why, because in my mind it was the most effective way to sniff and clear my throat simultaneously. I was completely ignorant of the obnoxious noise it was making.

Now I understand. Because Mr. Nose Noise over there is doing the exact same thing and it's driving me nuts!

For everyone's comfort I would just like to affirm that over time you got to me and my nose-grunting enough times (you specifically practiced sniffing with me, remember?) and I now sniff normally. Thank goodness! I would hate to be putting anyone through what I have just experienced today. GROSS.

My advice is, enjoy the blessed tissue! Costco has a coupon running for them this month. Getcha some, and celebrate the gentle and quiet sniff while in public.

Love, Kk
